SMC artists shine in Marahuyo contest

SMC students once again proved that creativity is one of the qualities that they exemplify. Being AVID students, our artists garnered top honors in the recently held Marahuyo Art Contest. All entries from our grade school students landed in the top 4 of their category.

Alyssa Gail T. Jao of 6-Perseverance was judged as Grand Winner, topping in more than 15 entries. Julianna Maxine C. Flotildes also from 6-Perseverance was awarded Third Place while Akira Maxine T. Guzman got the 4th Place.Our high school artists’ work was also highly commended by the esteemed judges. All entries landed in the top 10. Third place out of around 27 entries is Aubrey Jewel B. Joson of 9-Integrity. Also in the top 10 spot are the works of Carla Sarmiento and Kayla Sarmiento of 8-Commitment.

The Marahuyo Art competition is part of the annual art exhibition on Philippine culture. It is an exhibit that aims to raise awareness in our forgotten Filipino culture and to educate people, most especially the younger generation through various mediums of art. The event was created by Likha and the Asia Pacific College in partnership with SM, City Government of Muntinlupa, among others.
The event happened last August 29, 2015, at Activity Center of SM Muntinlupa.
