SMC Royals bag major awards in SGEN academic olympiad

High School students made SMC proud by bringing home major awards in the Southville Global Education Network (SGEN) Academic Olympiad last December 07, 2017Jose Mari Hernaez (Grade 10 Resilience) proved his prowess in Spelling Bee by taking Fourth Place out of 40 contestants.

The Quiz Bee team did not waver from the easy round to the difficult round as they showed their proficiency in Math, Science, English, SLGE, and General Information. The team composed of Chantal Peji (Grade 7 Altruism), Ann Margareth Tapac (Grade 8 Commitment), Heleina Jodi Hao (Grade 9 Integrity), Mikayla Andrea Guerriva (Grade 11), and Karen Cababasay (Grade 12), won First Runner-up.

A big winner in the competition was Marc Alexander de Ungria of Grade 11 who received the Championship trophy in Impromptu Speaking category. He got the nod of the judges with his meaningful explanation of growth mindset and grit.

Other participants in the Olympiad were Mark Andre Yorro (Grade 7 Altruism), Spencer Fritze Petalio (Grade 7 Altruism), Gale John Bathan (Grade 8 Commitment), Ma. Lourdes Fatima Rabanera (Grade 8 Commitment), Esther Grace Pre (Grade 9 Integrity), Marvin Louise Refran (Grade 9 Integrity), Nicole Budomo (Grade 10 Resilience), Caroline Rodriguez (Grade 11), Jovencio Petalver III (Grade 11), Kiara Soberano (Grade 12), and Christan Macapinlac (Grade 12) for Spelling Bee, and Miguel Secuando (Grade 9 Integrity) for Impromptu.

With the feat in Quiz Bee and Impromptu Speaking Contest, SMC ranked First Runner-up Overall.

The SGEN Academic Olympiad is an annual gathering of students from Southville International School and Colleges, SIS Affiliated with Foreign Universities, Stonyhurst Southville International School Malarayat,  Stonyhurst Southville International School Batangas, and SEED Foundation Academy. The contest showcases the proficiency of students in international standards in the core subjects.
