“Apart from winning and bringing home the medals, the most meaningful experience for the team is being able to apply self-discipline and responsibility before, during and after the competition. That’s what we would like to inculcate to our the students,” said Principal Rolly Donato of South Mansfield College.
Yla Maryela Anda and Art Cyrus Anda got the silver medal in the recently conducted Victoria State Taekwondo Championship held in Melbourne Australia. The success of the two athletes will not be possible without the guidance of Coach John Paul Ampongan, Head Coach of Ampongan Taekwondo Academy Martial Art.
With more than 300 participants, Victoria State Taekwondo Championship is one of the biggest competitions in Taekwondo. The organizers of the competition usually invite players from the Philippines.
Apart from Yla and Art, Nathan Rosales won GOLD MEDAL in Poomsae Novice Yellow Belt Division event in the recent 2017 San Pablo City Age-Group Taekwondo Championships, held at SM City San Pablo Laguna.
“Their winning is an inspiration to the school as they only prove that our students are not only academically competent but they also excel in various disciplines like sports,” added Mr. Donato.
